Automated Instagram campaigns

Turn Instagram comments into contacts

You pick a word ("RECIPE", "PRICE", "GUIDE") and the posts it works on. As soon as someone comments it, they get a public reply and your message in their DMs, with buttons, your PDF or your link. Whatever they leave, their email or phone number, goes into your Customers list. And if they want to talk to someone, it hands you the conversation.

From the comment to your inbox, step by step

You set up the campaign once in Automation › Campaigns and it works on the posts you choose.

In public, it replies to the first 10 and then to 1 in 3, so Instagram doesn't mistake it for spam.

A word, the posts it works on, several public replies that take turns, and the funnel stage where commenters come in.

How it works

Three steps and you're off

1

Pick a word and a post

Start from a template (deliver a file or qualify leads) or from scratch, and choose which of your Instagram posts it works on.

2

Write what it says

The public replies, the first DM with its buttons and what comes next. Before you switch it on, you see the whole conversation as the person will see it.

3

Switch it on and keep track

Conversations land in your CRM inbox, each contact in your Customers list, and in Stats you see which post and which button work best.

What it does

Everything that happens after a comment

A public reply, without looking like a bot

Several replies that take turns. It answers the first 10 comments on each post, then 1 in 3, up to 20 an hour, to look after your account.

Buttons in the DM

Up to 3 buttons or quick replies. For people using Instagram on a computer, who don't see them, the message includes the word they can type.

Delivers your PDF or link

The file arrives inside the chat with its own link, and you can see roughly how many times it's opened. Links to your website go out tagged with the campaign.

Asks for an email or phone number

It asks for it in a message, checks that it's valid and says what it will be used for. Whatever they leave is saved to their profile.

Knows if they follow you

After the first button, it checks whether the person follows your account and sends them a different message depending on the answer, or invites them to follow you.

A reminder if they don't reply

If they stop halfway, they get a single reminder after 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours, from 9:00 to 21:00 and within the 24-hour window Instagram allows.

Hands you whoever wants to talk

With "Talk to someone", the conversation moves to "Needs you", with an alert. If your team replies, the campaign steps back.

Every contact goes into Customers

They come in with the campaign's stage and label. If they comment again on a later-stage campaign, they move up a stage, never down.

They opt out with one word

If they type STOP, neither the campaign nor any other automation will DM them again.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about Instagram campaigns

An Instagram professional account (business or creator) linked to your business's Facebook page. You connect it from the dashboard. The DM is sent from that page and the conversation arrives in your CRM inbox.

Yes. You choose posts from the Social media calendar or any post already on your Instagram account. It can also work on all of them.

No. Instagram only lets you DM people who comment or message you, and only one message per comment. That's why the campaign always starts with a comment: it's what keeps your account safe.

It has to be the whole word, spelled correctly; capitals and accents don't matter. If someone gets it wrong, they just comment again, and every comment adds activity to your post.

To look after your account. It replies to the first 10 comments on each post, then to 1 in 3, and no more than 20 an hour; if Instagram issues a spam warning, it stops replying publicly for 24 hours. Each person still gets the DM.

Yes, and on purpose: the first DM includes "(Automated message)". What you write (the tone and the buttons) is what keeps it from sounding like a robot.

Yes. The conversation is in your CRM inbox and, as soon as someone on your team writes, the campaign steps back from that conversation.

No. Grow comes with Basic CRM, which has no automations. The campaigns come with CRM + Automation or with the Total Pack.

No. You pay month to month, or for six months or a year upfront, with a discount. When the period ends, you carry on or stop.
